Welcome to the CFAR Virology Core Laboratory at UCLA

The Virology Core Laboratory provides testing services, blood and blood cell products and other specialized services to research labs working with HIV and other related viruses.  A dedicated and fully stocked BSL 2+ lab space is also maintained and made available to researchers conducting independent experiments.  We are able to assist individual researchers with special projects related to HIV detection. 

All lab services are provided on a recharge basis.

RECENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

1.18.2012

Debbie will be at a conference from Jan 27-31. During that time, we will NOT be able to provide phlebotomy services for our researchers.

If you need donors February 1 or 2, please let us know by Wednesday Jan. 25 at the latest so we can make the appropriate arrangements.

12.6.2011

In observance of the winter holidays, the Virology Core Lab will be closed from Monday, December 26, 2011 through Monday, January 2, 2012.

No leukopacks, PBMCs, phlebotomy services, media, or p24 testing will be available during this time period. RT-PCR machine use will be restricted to those with 1st floor BSRB access.

We will follow our regular schedule the week of Dec. 19-23:

We will reopen on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, following our typical Monday-holiday altered schedule:

If phlebotomy services will be needed after January 3, please notify us before the break if possible.

Effective January 1, 2012, we will be adjusting our service prices. We will also be adding some new services to further assist you with your research projects. Please click here for additional details.

There will be no phlebotomy services available on the following days due to Debbie's absence from the lab:

August 1-5

AND

August 29-September 6

For donors needed the week of August 8, please contact Debbie by Tuesday July 26. For donors needed Sept 7 or 8, please contact her by Tuesday August 23.

The Virology Core lab will be closed on July 4th. We will be on our altered holiday schedule this week.

We can order leukopaks for our users on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Phlebotomy services will be available Tuesday through Thursday, but please contact Debbie by June 29 to schedule donors during this time period.

Our regular schedule will resume on Monday July 11.

As of February 1, 2010, we will be increasing the cost of 2 Core services, p24 tests and IQ5 use (if applicable).  See the table below for details. All other Core lab services will continue to be offered at their current prices, which can be viewed here.

Please note that although our operating costs have increased, these service prices were last changed in 2005.
